An air conditioner running at full power in an empty hotel room is an unnoticed but constant cost. HCX RoomController aims to manage that cost, using occupancy, temperature, and humidity signals, without compromising guest comfort.

How the system works

A USB control module integrated with an Android TV Box collects occupancy, temperature, and humidity signals from the room; air conditioner control is delivered through the existing remote's IR protocol.

A staged approach

When a room becomes vacant, the system doesn't act immediately; after a short tolerance period, it first shifts to an economy setting, and if the vacancy continues, a shutdown scenario kicks in. It's designed to restore the last comfort setting when the guest returns.
